New Avengers 13

The Review:
Bendis·Finch·Miki·D'Armata

The Avengers finally face the Silver Samuri and the Hand Assassins. Words are exchanged. Spider-Woman is holding the unconcious Viper. Suddenly Iron-Man fires a concussion blast and most of the Hand Assassins are down but Powerman has an issue with the Silver Samuri and strikes him down. In further discussions, Silver Samuri greets Spider-Woman. As the authorities come, Silver Samuri tells the Avengers to go but Spider-Woman makes a point of taking Viper.

In the Quinjet, Spider-Woman secretly opens the hatch doors for Viper's escape, and at the same time Captain America gets up and gets sucked out of the plane through the open hatch. Spider-Woman yells, "Nnnoooo!" and dives after Captain America. She grabs him between her legs and glides, luckily Iron-Man flies down to rescue both. When they return to the Quinjet, Captain America seems to suspect something with Spider-Woman.

When the Avenger arrive at the Tower, Ronin reveals himself, uh, herself as Maya Lopes, aka Echo. In the morning, Jessica is having breakfast and eating a bowl of Choco Puffs. She greets Captain America and he asks her, So...Who are you working for? Jessica is speechless.

Storyline/Illustration: The storyline conclusion was somewhat anticlimatic, Silver Samuri tells the Avengers to go home. I was expecting a showdown. Instead Iron-Man fires a concussion blast and it's over. As far as the Illustration, Finch, Miki and D'Armata has once again out done themselves. The attention to details on every frame, down to Spider-Woman's glider webs, it truely describes them as "finely spun wings of glistening filaments."

Powers: As far as her power of self powered flight that was insinuated in NA2, this issue clarifies it. Spider-Woman glides, as we see her barely doing with Captain America wrapped between her legs. It was somewhat of a comedic scene.

New Avengers 12

The Review:
Bendis·Finch·Miki·D'Armata
When the Hand Assasins retreat from their attack on the New Avengers at Stark Enterprises Penthouse in Osaka, Japan, Spider-Woman confronts Viper about, "we had a deal..." In this heated confrontation, Vipers reminds SW that Hydra gave back her powers and they can take them away. As the other Avengers approach them, Viper orders SW to take her down with her venom blast. It seems Captain America might suspect something by questioning her actions and reminding her that they are a team.

Storyline/Illustration: Bendis, it's great you brought this story-line back (Hydra-SHIELD), it makes a great connection to SW's first appearance in Marvel Spotlight #32. I'm still not use to the lack of narratives as you go to the different scenes. But the amazing Finch, Miki, and D'Armata production makes up for it. Great work guys.

New Avengers 11

The Review:
Bendis·Finch·Miki·D'Armata
Steve Rogers (Captain America) meets up with Murdock (Dare Devil) in Central Park, NY to discuss about Harada (Siver Samurai) leading the Yashida Clan in the Japanese Underworld while still trying to convince Murdock to join the Avengers. Murdock declines the offer and recommends Ronin. Later, Rogers meets with Ronin and gives him his first assignment. Ronin infiltrates Yoshida Fortress observes the Silver Samurai (Kenuichio Harada) and the Hand along with the Viper, Hydra agents and Ninja Assasins. Unfortunately Ronin is discovered and escapes back to Stark’s Penthouse to warn the other Avengers only to be trailed by the Ninjas. Spider-Woman discovers Ronin climbing up to the Penthouse badly wounded and reacts, “Oh my God! Are you okay?” Soon after ninja stars and arrows come flying behind him. The Avengers find themselve under attack by a band of Ninja Assasins.

Storyline/Illustration: What I'm begining to see is how Bendis uses the dialog for his narratives as appose to the old school "Meanwhile, back at the ranch..." narratives. And of course the great visual art work gives its own narratives as well. Finch, Miki and D'Armata great work again.

Spider-Woman and the New Avengers are on the SHEILD Hellicarrier as Iron-Man convinces Wolverine to join the team. A week later, Captain America and Iron-Man go find the Sentry in a Nevada dessert cave. They bring a comic book writer and his wife to try to help him remember who he is. The shock of seeing his wife, the Sentry starts glowing and in a large flash of light he disappears.

Else where in NY, Spider-Woman with Wolverine, Luke Cage (Power-Man) and Spider-Man continue to confront the Wrecker. While Wolverine, Power-Man and Spider-Man get thrown around by the Wrecker, Spider-Woman confronts the Wrecker by reasoning with him, "I don't want to fight you Dirk, I want to help you." A little bit of psychology and of course SW's pheromones. It seems that it calmed or distracted the Wrecker as the other Avengers took him down. Iron-Man summon the Avengers to fo at Hartford Connecticut. The New Avengers band together with the Fantastic Four, X-men, Inhumans, Doctor Strange, Sub-Mariner, and SHEILD to confron the Sentry.
